Transcript of Episode 1 of TCI Transmissions: [Spiral inspired music plays softly in background] [Computerized voice speaks over music] Welcome to TCI Transmissions, an experimental soundscape of things that sound nice and might help you make other things. This episode is a guided meditation that invites you to momentarily embody a snail, and imagine exploring its natural environment. Thank you. Enjoy. [Music fades out] It is early morning on a summer's day. You lie upon the dewey ground at the edge between meadow and forest. Dampness permeates the cool soil beneath the length of your body. Droplets cling to tall grasses above your head. You are a Roman Snail in the Odenwald mountains of Germany. The air is moist. You can feel the dampness with every breath you take. This moisture is your comfort. It saturates every fiber of your body. And you produce your own - a carpet of mucus that that lies beneath you. This slime is natural. It smooths your path and marks your movement. Atop this slime trail, your body rests upon a single foot, a muscular ribbon that runs the length of your body. With this foot, you slowly move through the world. Your being is simple - a cycle of impulse and sensation. Your impulse now is to find food. You orient yourself in the grass through unfocused eyes that see only in grayscale. You rely more on your sense of smell. Short tentacles reach out from the fore of your head, seeking information. You move them, tapping and feeling the soil ahead, scanning for promising traces of food. Flexing, bending and sensing. Smelling the fresh aroma of a fallen leaf just ahead, your foot, your entire body, stretches along the dirt. You then slowly contract - pulling the weight of your tail and spiral shell along, sliding atop your slime trail. Once gathered together, you stretch out again, plant down and slowly bring the rest of your body along. Your searching tentacles feel the dirt give way to the soft firmness of a fallen leaf, you stretch forward and lift your head to its sharp edge. You dig into its meat with your razor edged tongue. Pulling small bits of the wilted plant into your mouth. Here you will remain, slowly digging away at the deep flesh of the plant, entirely focused on this action, until impulse beckons you to move again. [Computerized voice returns] The transmission is now over. This snail meditation was created and voiced by Jon Leland.
